Dr. Sadia Hakeem is a plant breeder and geneticist focused on micronutrient biofortification, climate-resilient crop architecture, and molecular breeding of wheat, cotton, and underutilized species such as sea-buckthorn. Her doctoral research at MNS University of Agriculture, Multan investigated genetic diversity for iron, zinc, vitamin C and water-use efficiency, building on novel work on leaf-surface traits that allow wheat to harvest atmospheric moisture for self-irrigation — a strategy for water-scarce, arid climates.
She currently serves as Bilimsel Araştırma Uzmanı at the Cotton Research Institute, Multan, leading field trials, hybridization and the establishment of a gene-mining and editing laboratory for pest tolerance. She has held fellowships at SWUST (China), Universität Kassel (Germany, DAAD) and contributed to IOFS food-security publications.
